Dave Taylor has resigned as Australia’s Fed Cup captain to focus on coaching Samantha Stosur, Tennis Australia announced.

Taylor took over the captaincy seven years ago and led Australia out of zonal completion and into the World Group. Australia beat Germany in its last tie and will face the two-time defending champion Czech Republic in early February.

Taylor said he was drained by the amount of travel it took to coach both Stosur and the team. Australian journalist Craig Gabriel reported that former Fed Cup players Nicole Pratt and Nicole Bradtke may be considered for the job.
