Former world No. 2 Vera Zvonareva announces on Facebook that she will be unable to compete during the upcoming Australian summer, including at the Australian Open. The Russian has been contending with an upper respiratory illness since Wimbledon and has not competed since the Olympics. “My body is not 100% recovered yet and I want to start when I know I can play the rest of the year,” she wrote. “I keep working hard to get healthy.”
